What is HMIS?

The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), which Council for the Homeless administers, tracks data from local social service providers.

Our staff provide training, facilitate licenses, create reports, and manage data quality.

Social Service Providers and Community Benefits

  • Better client service – HMIS tracks case history and improves provider communication.
  • Planning and evaluating – HMIS helps our community evaluate programs and direct resources.
  • Applying for funding – HMIS data is used to illustrate needs, trends, and gaps.

By analyzing how people move through the homeless response system, communities gain a deeper understanding of the patterns, challenges, and barriers individuals face. This insight ensures that interventions are tailored to the unique needs of the community and grounded in the lived experiences of those impacted.
