Meeting the Need for Housing

In Clark County, our Homeless Response System helps people experiencing homelessness find safe, stable housing. Through a coordinated assessment, trained partners identify which type of housing support will work best—whether that’s short-term help or long-term assistance.

Some households only need temporary rental support to get back on their feet. Others may need permanent housing with wraparound services. When people are matched to the right program, the results are strong—more than 86% of people placed in permanent supportive housing remain housed after two years.

Tracking Housing Assessments

Once a person or household completes an assessment, they are officially entered into our tracking system. The dashboard below compares the number of assessments completed each month to the number of households placed into a housing program. Demand often exceeds availability, highlighting the need for additional housing solutions.

Understanding Housing Programs

  • Coordinated Assessment: A comprehensive survey and conversation with the head(s) of household determines which housing assistance program will best support their needs and long-term stability.
  • Rapid Re-Housing: Rapid Re-Housing provides short-term rental assistance and case management to prevent individuals and families from losing their homes. This program, offered through social service agencies, is accessed via the Housing Solutions Center.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing: Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) combines affordable housing with intensive support services, including behavioral and physical healthcare, caregivers, and case management. Currently, the need for PSH far exceeds available capacity.

A Proven Approach

Over 86% of households placed into stable, permanent housing through these programs remain housed and do not return to homelessness within two years.

Clark County Looking Forward

Expanding Permanent Supportive Housing and increasing capacity across the homeless crisis response system are critical priorities.

Innovative initiatives like Everybody IN can help close the gap. We are working with developers, property managers, and regional partners to identify vacant apartments that can be converted into housing for unhoused individuals and families.

As this program grows, more families will gain access to permanent housing in established neighborhoods across
Clark County.
